Devil wears Prada

If you are a fashion movie lover,

this movie would probably be something that you could enjoy. In my opinion, Devil Wears Prada is a very timeless movie that you could always learn something about the world of fashion with it, and also get a little sense of comedy as well.

Devil Wears Prada is an American movie which was aired in 2006. It was based on Lauren Weisberger's novel which is about a young girl that was hired to be an assistant to an editor of a fashion magazine. In this blog i will not talk much about Lauren's novel because as the sake of this blog, I prefer to put a detail about my perspective and my comment about this movie rather than writing about the "history" and how this movie came.

I think the first time that I watch this movie is about 6 months ago. I was not know anything about this movie at all, then I saw a cut scene of this movie from twitter, I started wondering about the content of this movie because it seems to be so interesting judging from the cut scene that I had seen, and then I found it on Netflix. With no hesitation, I started watching the movie.

From the very beginning of the movie, it shows various lifestyle of women before going to work, as to inform the audience a bit about how most of the women care about their appearance and how they dress. Then Andy appeared, She is an ordinary woman who seems to doesn't really care about how she dress and her appearance. Now the difference about Andy's thoughts on fashion compared to the other women were showed up to me. Andy was trying to get a job as a writer because she has an interest in it. She got a call by the Elias-Clarke Publications that offer her a position to be an assistant of the "Runway" magazine's editor and she thought that she should give it a try as a stepping stone to her ideal publications company. She has no idea who the editor is and how empower and demanding she is. Andy met Emily, the current editor's no.1 assistant. I would say that Emily has a very awful first impression of Andy because of Andy's ignorance about fashion and "Miranda", the demanding editor of Runway. Emily warned her a little bit about Miranda's demanding persona and give her a tough advice about her hideous sense of fashion. Andy went straight to an interview in Miranda's office and Miranda seems to doesn't really care about Andy's wonderful profile at all, of course Andy was pissed off and she leaves Miranda's office with a terrible impression about this magazine. But before she leaves the place, she gets a call again, and it's Emily. She was unexpectedly getting a job.

It has been a very hard work for Andy because she has no interest in fashion and the Runway magazine at all. Miranda always seems to disappointed in her in every job. But as the time goes by, she gained more confidence and experiences, makes her be Miranda’s favorite assistant. In the end Andy gets to go to Paris with Miranda, it’s every girls dream that one could ask for. Andy found out something about her job and decided to quit her job, but in the end, it was an incredible story and a great experience for Andy.

For me, through watching this movie, it gives me a lot of information about art and fashion. It makes me realize that in the world we live in, there are part of art in our lives but we might not recognise it.
